01 Does location affect Google search results?
Yes. Absolutely. Local rankings can actually change every few feet. I have run multiple tests where I walk down the street or go for a drive and I stop on every block and run a search. The results change regularly. This is because Google's local ranking algorithm gives a lot of weight to
how close a business is to the person searching. So as you move to different locations, your proximity to different businesses changes and the search results change to reflect that.
02 Why do I need a localized search result checker?
If you want to see what the search results look like from a location you're not physically located in, just adding the location name to your query does not give you accurate results. You need a way to set Google to show you results as though you were sitting right at that location. That's what the UULE parameter from this tool does.
03 What is a UULE?
A UULE is a parameter Google uses to for geographical targeting. It was originally discovered in use for Google Ads, but has been found to work to set the geographic search location for organic and local search results as well
04 How can I check search results in a different location?
Well, just use this tool! This tool will generate a location-setting UULE parameter for the location you specify and then give you a link to Google's search results with that parameter and location set so you can see the search results from that location, just like if you were sitting in that spot.
05 How often do Google's search results change?
All the time. I've done some research with our local rank tracking software where I checked rankings every hour for 72 hours. All of the location/browser/IP/other settings stayed exactly the same on each search. The variation in local search results was nuts. And that was a while ago. There seems to be even more variation now. You see, Google's results are being generated on the fly and are built based on millions of data points. Those data points are changing all the time, and thus, so are the search results.
06 I compared the search results from this tool with the results from my rank tracking software and they are different. Does that mean my rank tracker is wrong?
No. Not at all. Please see my answer above about how rankings are constantly changing. If you are searching manually even 10 seconds later, it wouldn't be surprising for you to get different results. Rankings are affected by so many factors: IP, device, browser, history, time, etc. You can't set up your configuration to match the rank trackers exactly, so you CANNOT manually validate ranking data from rank trackers. What the rank tracker reports is what the rank tracker saw at that specific moment it checked, and you can trust it to have been true at that time.
07 How can I change my search location on Google?
You can change your search location on Google with a UULE parameter like the one this tool generates. You can also follow a convoluted 10 step process to set your location Chrome using the developer tools, but it's a pain, and then you'd have to change it back after. So, just use this tool.
